Guilded – Week 10 & 11

This week was actually really good for Guilded! We started implementing the new UI mockups for various systems and got the basic functionality for everything working. A ton of new UI was added and is starting to be implemented, such as the Encyclopedia. The Encyclopedia is our solution to a long tutorial. Instead of overloading the player with information in the tutorial, we give them a short summary of their role and then direct them to learn more in the encyclopedia if they want.

We also started implementing more monthly quests. This is something I’ve personally be looking forward to a lot. Up until now, we’ve only had one monthly quest, the Gary Oldmyer wants Protection Tax quest. Now, we’re starting to implement all the wonderful new quests our narrative designers had come up with! In the end, we could have up to a year of content.

In other news, bug fixing and balancing are still happening, and I created the second iteration of the trailer. I’m really happy with how the trailer looks now, and I’m looking forward to getting a more final copy of it next week.
