Another week, another State of the Game! This week we were a little off, work was slow to get in and as such nothing major really happened. I took over sprint planning for the designers, and that didn’t go as well as I thought it would. At the product backlog meeting earlier that day we planned out the tasks we wanted to accomplish this week but, since we didn’t have the other leads at the meeting, we didn’t realize how much of the work we planned was not designer work. This lead to a really slow start for Designers, since there was about 2 hours of work planned after the rushed sprint planning meeting. That was on me for sure. As the Design Lead and Product Owner, I should have pushed to get more tasks into the sprint. Everything balanced out about midway through the sprint once we added more tasks, but it still wasted a few days and people’s time.
