This week I remade the basic level for the game. We had been using the same level since the start of the game, and it was time for an upgrade. I wanted to make sure the player felt like they were in a large, snowy mountain range. I used a combination of trees, hills, and fog to cut off all sight lines outside of the map, so the player will never be able to see outside the bounds of play. I’ve included images from the editor, both with fog and without.
Next weekend we will be going to the RPI GameFest, which we are all super excited for! It’s Champlain’s tradition to go and show off our games (and win a few prizes), so I’m happy to carry it on. You’ll be able to read about it in the next blog post!
Looking forward to the future of Snowball Showdown, as we start to enter summer development, there are a few things that we want to do:
- Add more game modes
- Add more items
- Make sure our social media is active
- Run our company correctly (LLC)
- Interact with the community and release bug and content updates
We are all super excited to continue our work on this game, and I can’t wait to see how it’s received when we release!
