Production 2: Week 6

For the past two weeks I’ve been mostly working on meetings with the rest of the designers. We discussed five major points: Game Modes, Character Design, How Snowballs will be Combined, Item Tiers, and Scooping Player Feedback.

We decided on 9 different game modes:

  • Showdown (1v1)
  • 2v2
  • Free For All
  • Shooting Range (Training mode)
  • Push-Of-War
  • Hot Potato
  • 1 Hit
  • Custom Battles
  • Horde Mode

You can see the gamemode ideas more fleshed out in the below pictures.

Next we talked about character design. We decided that the character should be something similar to Overcooked, where there is a thick, solid body with separated hands and head. For the hands, we want TechnoGloves, which will allow us to contextualize some UI aspects as well as a magnet grab feature.

We also quickly discussed the Snowblower object. Since we had problems where the players would accidentally put their snowballs into the blower, we created a level on the snowblower which would make the player confirm depositing the snowball.

In one of the other meetings, we talked about making more player feedback for the player scoop. This includes making scooping easier, adding trails to the hand when scooping, having a transparent snowball show up in between the scooping hands, symbolizing how big the snowball will be when created.

Lastly, we also discussed, how items will be created from the snowblower. We discussed different tiers of items, each more powerful than the last.
