Previous Post:
So, last week I didn’t get around to working on this project. That was due to a combination of burn out, GDC being cancelled, and being sick. The perfect storm. I won’t be posting anything next week as well, due to being on Spring Break.
This week’s snapshot:
What’s New:
- All 5 foods can be created!
- Each food has their own minigame, station, and basic model
- You must bring orders to the table that ordered it rather than a basic drop off area
- The level restarts after 5 minutes to simulate a day (not shown)
Challenges:
As I mentioned before, I had trouble working on this project last week due to a bunch of unfortunate circumstances. This really limited the time I had to work on the game, but I’m glad that I was able to get everything in that I wanted to still! For the game in particular, getting the orders to set up at the table was really hard. I guess I didn’t set up my system as nicely as I thought I did, so I had to rewrite my entire order checker to make sure that the player couldn’t turn in any order to any table.
Besides that, it was a pretty basic work week. As expected, my pipeline to make different food types and their minigames was planned out really well, so it only took me twoish hours to make 3 foods.
What’s Next:
Spring Break! A week off from working on the game, and then:
- An upgrade scene comes up at the end of every day. It would have 2 temporary update slots which the player can purchase with their money
- After 7 days the game returns to the main menu
